Astro
Fund is the specialist section within SDBTT whose work concentrates
purely on low-grade (slow growing) brain tumours.
Support is offered both on an individual
basis and through an international internet chat group, LGG Support. Astro
Fund has financed 5 research projects since they were founded in 2001,
the results of which have provided important new information and given
rise to new areas of research, but there is still a long way to go before
a cure is found for this challenging group of tumours.
Please help us get more research projects
underway in 2008 by joining in the auctions here at Rent-A-Date for Charity;
your help in spreading the word and raising money for such a great cause
really will make a difference to everyone living under the shadow of a

Peak District Challenge
|
This is a major new event, being run in conjunction with Bike
Events (organisers of the London to Brighton Bike Ride, amongst many
others) and neurological rehabilitation centre BASIC.
The ride offers 2 circular routes, starting & finishing in Ashbourne,
"Gateway to the Peaks". Choose either the 49 mile route for
dedicated cyclists, or the 29 mile route (which includes many traffic-free
cycle paths) for recreational cyclists and families. Both routes take
in the natural beauty of the gently rolling hills and dales, as well as
some of the prettiest villages in the area.Enter as an individual or encourage
your friends, family and colleagues to join you in a team - it promises

the World Walk

No,
you're not expected to find time to walk the whole distance yourself!
This is the second year of an exciting initiative co-ordinated by the
International Brain
Tumour Alliance to mark International Brain Tumour Awareness Week
2008. Simply take part in a sponsored walk in your area raising money
for Astro Fund, and we will donate the miles to the IBTA total. The target
is to reach 25,000 miles (the distance around the Equator) by the joint
efforts of people supporting brain tumour charities around the world,
illustrating the determination that we all share to find a cure for brain
cancer. In 2007, this was achieved twice over and reminded us all that
we are part of something very special. If you would like help to organise

October 2008 | Norfolk Family Walk |
Holkham
Hall provides a spectacular setting for this sponsored walk, part
of the Round the World series! Choose a route of 1,3,9,10 or more miles
within the grounds of this beautiful stately home, then renew your energy
levels with the refreshments available. You are welcome to push a pram,
ride a trike, bring a wheelchair or be joined by an animal on a lead -
and there are even games to play along the children's route.
